Business Fact

As part of a smart city initiative, the city of Fellbach is digitizing many parts of its infrastructure. For a digital city tour, beacons were placed at prominent locations that can be addressed via an app. The app displays information about the current points. All content can be controlled and adapted via a CMS system (TYPO3).

Customer Fact

Fellbach is a town in Baden-Württemberg on the northeastern city limits of Stuttgart. It belongs to the Stuttgart region and the European metropolitan region of Stuttgart. It is the second largest city in the Rems-Murr district after the district capital Waiblingen and, together with Waiblingen, forms a middle center for the surrounding communities.

Fellbach’s population exceeded 20,000 in the early 1950s, so that the city received the status of a large district city as early as April 1, 1956, when the Baden-Württemberg municipal code came into force. The city currently has more than 46,000 inhabitants.

Task

As part of the Smart City Initiative of the city of Fellbach, the customer requested a city tour app in combination with Bluetooth Beacon technology. New technologies and approaches are needed for this.

Solution

Central content management system for the administration of the city tour content (TYPO3). Provision of the content in the apps for iOS and Android. Automatic guidance of the navigation with map from one sight to the next with the help of Bluetooth Beacon technology.
